A Creative Weekend in Classical Athens- We are sorry that this trip will now be postponed til 2021.

Helle Foy at Discover Kalymnos is delighted to offer this creative and cultural weekend in Athens with artist Alison Cotton and expert tour guides from Athens. You will have the chance to sketch and paint on site in watercolour or media of your choice with guidance from Alison, an experienced art tutor and seasoned travel painter. In addition we are offering guided tours of the Acropolis, Agora and Acropolis Museum, plus time to relax, explore and socialise with the group. The temperature in Athens in November is usually around 18° – 20° C.

Itinerary:

Thursday

Travel to Athens from your home. Depending on available flights you may choose to travel early in the day and enjoy more time in Athens. Evening: introductions and an optional stroll to enjoy the views of floodlit Athens. Your choice of evening meal.

Friday

Guided tour of the Acropolis Museum following by a session sketching in the museum with Alison’s guidance. Friday’s evening meal is at the traditional Taverna Krasopoulio in the Psyrri district. The name translates as ‘lots of wine’.

Saturday

Guided tour of the Acropolis and the Agora (the ancient public space that functioned as the centre of the athletic, artistic, spiritual and political life of the city) followed by an art session. Alison offers all kinds of guidance from tips in perspective drawing and watercolour technique to creative mentoring if you wish to pursue your own artistic agenda. Your choice of evening meal.

 

Sunday

Painting and drawing Athenian life in the Plaka area: situated in the foothills of the Acropolis, this is the old historical neighborhood of Athens, with labyrinthine streets and neoclassical architecture.

In the evening we enjoy classic Greek dishes at the Taverna Platanos in the Plaka area, and this group gathering will include the opportunity to display and discuss your artwork with each other.

Monday

There is time for some shopping, relaxing or more art before your flight home. We suggest you book an evening flight if you want to make the most of the day in Athens.

 

The cost of the holiday includes:

  • Transfers from airport and all taxis or transport to locations.
